Prior to launching VERT, Joaquin founded Element Markets’ Development Group, a development company in the utilityscale wind and solar space. Under his leadership, the company grew to a 90+ person organization and was sold to a leading utility. Joaquin led the origination of investments in renewable energy, raising nearly $1B in funding, across multiple technologies (wind, solar, biomass, and LFG).
With extensive experience in principal finance roles at Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Lazard Freres, Joaquin has advised numerous investment funds and companies on capital raising, apitalization, strategy, and structures solutions. His unique investment method finds value through financial structuring, observing market asymmetries, working rapidly, and a relentless pursuit of understanding. With an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas, Joaquin is driven by his personal mission to be fully transparent in every endeavor and to better the lives of people and the environment by information-sharing and taking action.
